How to Use

Stove Top Directions: Bring 1 cup (250ml) of water and a pinch of salt (if desired) to a boil in a covered saucepan. Slowly stir in 1/4 cup (approximately 40 g) of steel cut oats. When oatmeal begins to thicken (approximately 5 minutes), reduce heat and simmer for about 30 minutes (or to desired consistency), stirring occasionally. Serve with milk, cream or a pat of butter. If desired, add honey, maple syrup, brown sugar or molasses to sweeten. For an added treat add dried fruit, raisins, nuts or a pinch of cinnamon. Yields one 1 1/4 cup serving.

NOTE: Steel cut oats are best prepared using the stovetop recipe. Microwaving is not recommended.
